Please note: we only publish books for the Christian church, plus theological academic works of PhD, Dmin or similar level and some post-doctoral research in Humanities (mainly, but not exclusively, Biblical Studies, Christian Theology and related fields).  We regret that not all manuscripts will be successful.

We offer potential authors a range of publishing solutions that provides a buddy author with options to match both their need and their budget!  After decades of publishing experience, we have yet to find one of these that do not work for an author:

 

The ‘Popular’ package

By far our most popular service is a “fee and discount” service, where the author pages a fee to cover the publishing services from editing to publishing, and then gets a discount off the retail price for copies they want.

Author copies are available for 35% off the RRP, and when you place an order of 50 copies of your book, we will increase this discount to 50%. Author copies are non-returnable, and no royalties are paid on them. See our list of current fees here.

The publishing costs are very competitive, if not the best around, and below are details on how the process works.

All published books are added to our website, listed on Amazon UK, and made available to the Christian book trade via leading trade distributors.

Unless otherwise agreed, your royalties are paid annually.

 

Our ‘Premium’ option

This is aimed for authors wanting at least 200 copies of the book in a single purchase, and most often they purchase 500+ copies.

We provide a quote for all the copies, which covers all the production and delivery cost of the books to you.  Often this can reduce the retail price by more than 50%.

The more copies an author purchases, the lower the cost for is each copy and the bigger the authors profit.  This is particularly true up to 1000 copies and for books with colour pages and hardcovers.

All published books are added to our website, listed on Amazon UK, and made available to the Christian book trade via leading trade distributors.

Unless otherwise agreed, your royalties are paid annually.

 

‘Customised’ solution

We offer personalised quotes and a unique set of tools that will best suit your publishing needs. If you have a budget, let us know and we will work within that where possible.

We have years of experience working with authors who have friends and connections with skills they would like to use. The daughter of one author designed her cover and we supported them in getting the correct artwork ready.  Another had a friend who was a trained editor, so they saved time and money by providing the manuscript fully edited.

If you want special features such as embossed or foil coated text, spot gloss used on the cover, or even gold edges pages as one author wanted, our Customised solution is the best option for you.

All we need to start is for you send us your manuscript, a synopsis of the book, and details of what services you already have arranged.

‘eBook’ only package

If you only want your book released as an eBook we can help with that.

We have worked with authors who want to publish their book on Amazon (it is sometimes their best option) but need editing and a cover designing for them. Some have asked us, for a small additional fee, to set up their book on Amazon for printing and as an eBook.  We’re happy to help!

100% of the sales income goes direct to you direct from Amazon & Faithbuilders earns no sales commission or income.

 

 

Possible “extras”

We have no hidden charges, but sometimes special circumstances arise which incur costs.  The most common being:

Copyright Licenses: Some works, perhaps those quoting large amounts of biblical text, images, or quoting hymns/songs, or using rare fonts for ancient script (such as Egyptian hieroglyphics), require royalty payments to be made to the owners of copyright of said materials. All such fees are the responsibility of the author.

We are happy to handle all copyright and licensing negotiations on your behalf, and we will bill you the actual cost for any licenses plus a £85 + VAT admin charge.

Editorial Charges:  Should an author wish to make alterations beyond the normal single editing & layout review that is included as standard, a minimum fee of £85 + VAT will be charged for each time interior changes are requested (we will advise the cost before work starts).

The same  £85 + VAT is payable each time changes are requested to the cover following initial author acceptance.  This charge covers ebook, paperback and Hardback versions (you will not be charged for each format separately) and accurately reflects the cost incurred by us for the additional work.

Illustrations/Diagrams

There is no charge for including illustrations, graphs etc provided by the author UNLESS they are of inadequate quality and need to be remade. We can correct illustrations for a fee of £85 + VAT for up to 10 illustrations.

We cannot accept photos for inclusion in any work unless they are of high enough quality (600DPI or above, or encapsulated vector images) and the author owns the relevant copyright licence. We are able to include color stock photos in book interiors if requested, and the license fee will be charged to the author at cost price plus 10% admin fee.

Please note that color interiors can be very expensive to print in small quantities and will increase the sale price of the book.

 

Ready to become a Published Author?

Please submit your manuscript via our “Submit Your Christian Book Manuscript“ page or you can email it to us with a synopsis of the content to: operations@faithbuilderspublishing.com

If your work is academic please also email at least one recommendation from an academic who knows your work, e.g. your research supervisor, indicating why this research merits publication. It would be helpful if you could send also your most recent resume detailing your academic qualifications and any previous publications (MS Word files please) to the commissioning editor for appraisal: operations@faithbuilderspublishing.com  We will engage in a vigorous peer review process of academic manuscripts prior to publication of your work.

Please ensure that nothing in your intended manuscript contradicts the ECPA Statement of Faith.

How does the Process Work?

1.  Choose the publishing option/package above and contact us or Submit Your Manuscript via the form

2. We will acknowledge receipt and provide a timeframe for a complete reply

3.  Once we have had time to review it and confirm the best package for you, the costs and timeframe to have the book ready, we will provide all this information to you via email.

4. If you are happy to proceed, we will send you a copy of the contract for signing and an invoice for any fees. We will commence work on receipt of the signed agreement and the funds.

5.  When your manuscript has been edited, we will ask you to approve any changes and answer any questions raised by the editor

6.  In parallel our designers will work on the cover design and to options will be sent to you for feedback before the full cover is created

7.  If you want a printed ample copy prior to the main print run, we can arrange for this (a two week process). Whilst this is being done we will have the book entered onto the national database ready for Amazon and other leading resellers and distributors to have the information on the book

8.  When you are ready, we then print the agreed copies you want and depending the package and contract, copies for us to sell.  This can two week to complete.

9.  Welcome to being a published author!

 

Once your book is published, it will be stocked in our award-winning print distributor Marston Book Services in Oxford, as well as being made available across a wide range of digital platforms via our global digital distributors Ingram (who are used by 25% of the world’s top 50 publishers). We will also list the book on Amazon UK and if agreed, on Amazon USA.  In the USA your book may be distributed by our trade partners Wipf and Stock, based in Oregon, who are active with a 30+ strong trade sales team across America.

 

What about Sales & Marketing?

 

As part of your package, your book’s details will be submitted as an enhanced listing with Nielsen and deposited with the British Library. Book vendors will be able to see your title in these lists and order directly from our distributors.

We will issue advance information sheets to relevant buyers, and our sales teams will begin promote your book at trade fairs, directly to bookstores, and to university/seminary departments on our network.

 

Even so, with thousands of similar books on offer, many of our authors invest in further advertising themselves. We can offer advice on current opportunities for advertising in the main web stores related to your category, or design additional marketing resources for you (normally a fee is charged) and will send you a copy of the front cover (free of charge) for your own marketing purposes.  Authors have asked for leaflets, posters,
